Start organising and packing up early for your upcoming Funiture Removals. As packing can take time and cause stress if you leave it for last minute. So pack every thing well in advance and leave only daily useable things like cutlery, bathroom items etc for the last minute.
While packing, be very organised. If you face trouble in finding things regularly when you need them or your home feels like chaotic, its time to be organised for your next home and regain a sense of control by getting rid of old, useless things and organising useable thing properly. Start going through your house in systematic way, room to room, do a clutter test and dump useless things. Don't be reluctant to throw away things that cannot be reused, recycled or broken items which can't be repaired or cost more in repair, and clothes which do not fit. Donate them to charitable organizations or to friends.
Try to pack almost every thing to make sure the safety while transit. A general rule of thumb is that "if it can be boxed, then probably it should be". Use heavy duty removalists carton for packing. Avoid to use supermarket flimsy cartons without lids as they are more susceptible to cause damage to your precious belongings. Plastic storage boxes appear sturdy but they often crack up if heavy items are packed in them. So be very careful while buying boxes. You can get high quality removalists carton from Melbourne Master Movers at very cheap rates.
Fill any empty space in corner of boxes with newspapers or any appropriate material so your items can get less room to move about and less chances of damage. Try not to exceed weight of each box by 15-20 kgs. Label each box clearly and also label destination where they are going to. This will help removalists in prompt unloading and will save your time to rearrange your new house. Apply tape on each box and make sure that none of the box is loosely packed.
Packing can take a great deal of time. Constant kneeling, crouching, and bending over can cause soreness or injury. Try to pack at waist level by making space on desks wherever possible. It will reduce your tiredness and make the process fast.
To avoid injury, it is always recommended to "lift on your knees, not on your back".
Packing your bags
Clothes and manchesters should ideally be packed in suitcases or large striped bags. If you are packing them in plastic bags, then don't forget to double them as they can tear while transit.
Electronic items packaging
Electronic items are particularly sensitive to the rigours of transport. Electronic appliances can be subjected to vibrations, bumps and jerks while transit. They require special attention to protect them against shock or transit turbulence. Read manufacturer's instructions carefully for each electronic item and follow those instructions.
Use original boxes and foam to pack them as original packaging is according to shape of devices and protects them well. If you don't have original packaging, use enough material for padding them especially to LCD TVs, computers to protect their screen and avoid scratches. Bubble wraps are ideal to pack electronic equipments.
Keep a backup of your whole data in computers and take out removable media like CD's, DVD's from computers and DVD players etc.
Place all warranty cards, manuals and receipts of electronic equipment in a separate bag so you can find them easily on destination. Similarly pack remote controls and wires in a separate bag. Lebel each remote for corresponding device with a removable marker. If possible, take snapshots of wiring confgurations to help you reconnect them in your new home.
Kitchen Cartons and Fragile Items
For your fragile kitchen goods such as glassware and crockery, warp each piece individually and use plenty of paper around each piece to avoid rubbing them against each other and providing them less room to move about. Pack them in boxes with upside down to make them less susceptible to crushing. For plates, wrap them in sets of maximum 6, with paper between them and overhanging paper around them. Pack each set in heavy quality removalists boxes. Fill up the voids in boxes with papers, cotton or similar stuff within the fragile items and leave less space to find their room in and rattle around.
Make sure you line up all carton on top, bottom and corners with paper. Leaving no space in fragile item boxes, reduce the likelihood of crushing them.
Flammable Items and Hazardour materials
Dispose the dangerous chemicals and flammable items as it is unsafe to move them with other items. Follow the disposal instructions on them.
Bigger Items like Couches, desks, fridge, washing machines, chairs etc which are not possible to box up, leave them for removalists as they have blankets to wrap and pad them effectively.
